Many more young people in the South and South-East of Sheffield are choosing to attend Meadowhead Sixth Form. Although the school is very easy to access via car from that part of the city (10-15 minute drive around the ring road), public transport options are limited. There are lots of options to travel to Meadowhead from Abbeydale Road, Chesterfield Road and the City Centre and we would like to see similar options in place along the ring road from the South-East. Currently only one bus a day (the 719 at 7.29am) runs between Manor Top interchange and Meadowhead. If students are unable to make this service, then a journey that should take 10 minutes takes over an hour. It is a similar picture at the end of the school day.

We would like to see a more frequent service for the 719, and/or a shuttle bus between Herdings Park tram stop and Meadowhead. This would also have the benefit of improving links and reducing traffic in the Meadowhead area, including to the school, St James’ retail park, St George’s Park and Graves Leisure centre, as well as the planned new football stadium.
