Improve Nepali Passport Renewal Access and Process for Nepali Residents in Australia

Improve Nepali Passport Renewal Access and Process for Nepali Residents in Australia
The issue
To,
Embassy of Nepal, Canberra, Australia &
Nepal Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Passports, Nepal
We, the undersigned, call on the Embassy of Nepal, Canberra, Australia to improve the current Nepali passport renewal access for Nepali residents in Australia.
The current process for renewing Nepali passports in Australia requires Nepali citizens to travel to Canberra, regardless of where they reside in Australia. This is a significant inconvenience and expense for Nepali citizens, particularly those living in remote or regional areas. It is also not a 21st-century service, given that every state has a Consul-General office that could be equipped with resources to make this process more accessible.
We urge the Nepal Embassy to take proactive steps to address these key issues:
Expense: The cost of travel to Canberra to renew a passport is prohibitive for many Nepali citizens. We urge the Nepal Embassy to consider alternative options, such as allowing passport renewal to be done at Consul-General offices in each state.
Inconvenience: The current process is highly inconvenient for Nepali citizens, particularly for those who live in remote or regional areas, particularly as Western Australia, and Tasmania. We urge the Nepal Embassy to explore options for making the passport renewal process more accessible, such as by allowing online applications or establishing mobile passport renewal services.
Lack of proactive action: The current passport renewal process is not a 21st-century service and does not meet the needs of Nepali citizens residing in Australia. We urge the Nepal Embassy to take proactive steps to improve the service and make it more accessible for Nepali citizens.
We believe that improving the Nepali passport renewal access for Nepali residents in Australia is a critical issue that requires urgent attention from the Nepal Embassy. We call on the Embassy to take immediate steps to address these key issues and improve the service to benefit all Nepali citizens residing in Australia.
Sincerely,
Nepali Citizens in Australia
