Improve Magna Road junction to Canford Magna, Dorset

The Issue

We demand an immediate improvement to the junction of Magna Road and Canford Magna, after the completed ‘Transforming Travel’ crossings and bicycle lanes have caused horrendous motor traffic delays.

I personally have lived in Bearwood for 11 years and we have a business in Wimborne, travel time to work used to be 10-15 minutes, never any notable delays.  It is now 25-30 minutes, this is at off peak times. Those unlucky enough to need to travel the road in peak times for work or school runs are finding travel times have even tripled. It affects residents of the Bearwood and Merley ward as well as anyone travelling to work in the area.

During peak times the queue is as far back as the junction to King John Avenue, it is not unusual to see it back to the garden centre or Hamworthy Club.

The queue is only ever for traffic heading towards Gravel Hill, caused as traffic comes to a standstill whenever a vehicle waits to turn right into Canford Magna.  The carriageway is not wide enough to allow main road traffic to continue moving past the ones waiting to turn right.

This has to change as it is simply not adequate for an A road.  It is feasible to have a safe path and crossings for cyclists and pedestrians without causing such horrendous delays for motor traffic.
