Improve Local Crime Management for the Safety of Reddish Residents
The Issue
One of my mates was jumped and threatened near Lanky Hill flats in Reddish, Stockport; a horrifying experience that I would not wish on anyone, given the looming fear it has ushered into our community. Our shared tranquillity has been shattered, transformed into tension and fear. These harrowing incidents are becoming increasingly common in our local area, and the cry for better crime management grows louder with each passing day.
In Britain, the Office for National Statistics reported in 2020 that there were over 5.7 million incidents of crime – an alarming figure that underlines the urgency for effective action. The fallout from these crimes is not just a statistic; it's felt in our everyday lives, in our sense of safety walking home late at night, in our trust in our neighbours, in our children's freedom to play outside.
We need more than just numbers, assurances, and condolences; we need action. We need the local authorities to step up their efforts in crime prevention and resolution. We need the police force to be more visible, more responsive, and more engaged with the community - to ensure that each incident is dealt with correctly and efficiently. We need to reclaim our local area where we can feel safe and secure.
This cause is not merely personal to me or my mate; it's personal to each and every resident of Reddish who values their safety and peace. Stand with us as we demand the local authorities to take concrete steps towards our safety. Sign this petition and let's make a collective stand for a safer Reddish.
