Improve Living Conditions and Healthcare for the Elderly in Brampton, ON
The Issue
I have spent a significant part of my life witnessing the struggles of older adults in our community. From the streets to hospitals, and even long-term care homes, their challenges are visibly and deeply concerning. As a volunteer at a local hospital, I see firsthand how these issues affect them daily.
Brampton's ageing population is creating an unequal strain on our healthcare systems. The problems related to elder care are multi-faceted - from limited long-term care options to caregiver shortages and escalating healthcare costs for older adults.
In Canada, by 2030 seniors will account for 23% of the population (Statistics Canada). This demographic shift necessitates urgent action to ensure that we can provide adequate support for our elderly citizens.
We need policies that address these critical issues head-on. We need more funding allocated towards building better living environments for our elderly citizens. We must also invest in training more caregivers and making healthcare more affordable for older adults.
Our elders have contributed immensely to shaping Brampton into what it is today. It's time we take responsibility for their well-being in their twilight years.
Please sign this petition if you believe that improving living conditions and healthcare services for the elderly should be a priority in Brampton, ON. Let us show our commitment towards creating an inclusive society where every individual can age with dignity.
