Improve Leeton Mountford park for younger children

The issue

As a parent in Leeton, it is incredibly challenging to find a suitable playground for my young children. The current facilities at the Leeton Mountford Park fall short of meeting the needs of our vibrant young community. My daughter, who has only just turned four, is finally beginning to enjoy the playground beyond the swings and small slides. Unfortunately, the equipment primarily caters to older children, rendering it less than ideal for toddlers and preschoolers.

I am not alone in this sentiment. Many other mothers in the area have expressed similar frustrations. Leeton is a family-oriented town, yet our recreational options are limited. We lack an indoor pool and have few year-round activities that cater to young children. In contrast, neighboring councils have set commendable examples with their modern playgrounds equipped with gear that is both accessible and safe for little ones. We often drive to Narrandera to utilise their playground as it is better suited to young children.

Every town deserves a playground that caters to all age groups. Parents like myself, who have not yet sent their children off to school, need a space where they can engage their kids multiple days a week. We shouldn't have to compromise on our children's playtime and development due to inadequate facilities.

We urge the local council to consider redesigning and renovating Leeton Mountford Park with toddlers and preschoolers in mind. By doing so, the council would provide a safe, engaging environment that fosters early childhood development and brings our community together. Let's invest in the future of our children and provide them with the opportunities they deserve to learn, play, and grow safely.

Please sign this petition to support the enhancement of Leeton Mountford Park into a truly inclusive playground for all our children.
