Improve Funding Equity in LWSD Schools

The Issue

Every year, the Lake Washington School District fails to shift their resources towards the needs of the community. This reveals itself in ways including, but not limited to: a lack of consideration and funding for schools supporting an increasing number of immigrant and multi-lingual families, as well as the inability to adequately support a school with a significant low-income population.

We, the students and administration of Juanita High School, ask the Lake Washington School District to make a significant change in the district's financial distribution- such as utilizing a system similar to Seattle Public Schools' Equity Tier Calculation Methodology- in order to equitably, rather than equally, support all schools and their different needs.
