Dear Mr Freeman
Thank you for your website enquiry (attached) to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) on 20 February 2017 about the Weston Street / Woolcock Street intersection in Mount Louisa.
I can advise that there are future plans for the construction of an all-movements, signalised intersection (traffic lights) at the Weston Street / Woolcock Street intersection. This signalised intersection will be funded and constructed by the developers of the Cosgrove residential development.
I am unable to provide a specific timeframe for the construction of this intersection, but it will be triggered by the Cosgrove development once it reaches a specified size.
Interim works may also be undertaken at the intersection in the near future, as the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is concerned about the number of illegal through and right turn manoeuvres from Weston Street, which is impacting on road safety at the intersection. TMR is proposing to modify the medians and install barriers at the intersection to prevent these illegal manoeuvres, however these works have yet to receive funding and, as a result, there are no timeframes in place for these works. As I mentioned, these would be interim works only, until the all-movements, signalised intersection is constructed by the Cosgrove developers.
I trust this information is of assistance. If you have any further questions, please contact our Customer and Stakeholder Management team by email at engagement.northern@tmr.qld.gov.au or by phone on 1800 625 648.
Kind regards
Kelly Stolz
