Improve Duncraig Skatepark: Choose Pool Coping for Better Safety and Skill Development

Improve Duncraig Skatepark: Choose Pool Coping for Better Safety and Skill Development
The issue
We're a collective group of skatepark enthusiasts hoping for support that the new bowl under construction at Duncraig will be finished with Pool coping rather than the steel coping that is specified in your design brief.
The benefit this will bring, will make it a world class facility for bowl users, it provides overall improved grinding (not sliding on it as they do with steel coping) as it will teach users to manoeuvre their turns which will help them master every other trick they learn in the bowl and park, which will build their confidence as they progress as skaters/riders when moving on to bigger bowls and pool type bowls, and enhance junior development. With Park competitions gaining momentum, it will have them prepared for the world stage and for hopefully Olympic competition (and very soon vertical events will gain more popularity, and be included in the Olympics.)
We are signing this now before construction so the appropriate changes to plans with minimal outlay can be changed for the better and benefit of all the bowl riders and park users. I can't describe the feeling to non bowl users, however, the feel of grinding concrete coping is super important to progressing your trick repertoire and everyone will benefit from it, as it also helps beginners learn to stay on the coping rather than fall/slide off the steel coping and risk injuring themselves.
Please consider signing our petition to improve facilities in WA and persuade councils specifications.
