Anybody who is buying or has ever bought a house will know how house buying and selling is stressful at the best of times, however there is a  complete lack of accountability for the solicitors who deal with the conveyance when the process is being hindered by them.

With the current system, accountability for incompetence by the solicitor is not addressed during the process and is only addresses after the fact and only then after failure to complete there are simply no policies or interventions in place to avoid this including with the regulatory authority.  If there were processes in place to make the solicitors accountable a client could potentially avoid the process falling through. 

In the current economic climate securing a mortgage offer is hard enough in itself and with only three month deadlines it’s more important than ever to put something in place to combat house sale failures. 

Other countries can complete house buying within a month such as New Zealand so why is this not a possibility in the UK ?
