Improve Conditions and Patient Care in Emergency Rooms Nationwide

The Issue

I recently had a deeply troubling experience at a local hospital, an ordeal that lasted more than two hours dealing with a severely fractured wrist. During this trying period, I also witnessed a critically ill individual neglected; her needs dismissed while she suffered horribly. It was deeply disturbing to see patients neglected until their conditions worsened or they were deprioritized and referred elsewhere.

Our hospitals should be safe havens where everyone's needs are taken seriously, regardless of age, weight, race, or appearance. Prompt attention is not a privilege but a right that every patient is entitled to. The current system, however, is failing us. With some emergency rooms overwhelmed, the average wait time can exceed two hours. This is morally unacceptable and a serious health risk.
Aside from the appalling wait times, the level of patient care leaves much to be desired. We are not just statistics or names on a chart; we are individuals who need to be treated with dignity and respect. On top of these insufficiencies, there are serious concerns over hospital cleanliness and disinfection practices. A hospital should be a sanctuary of health and recovery, meticulously cleaned, and effectively disinfected consistently, not a breeding ground for disease and infection.

We need a healthcare system that exhibits diligence, urgency, and care for its patients. Won’t you join us in asserting our trust and demanding improvement? Please sign this petition to help make a significant change for all patients entering emergency rooms nationwide.
