Colby College—Cancel (or make optional) Class for Student Mental Health

The Issue

After the shooting incident on Colby College Campus in the early morning of March 11, many are both traumatized and angered. While counseling services have been suggested, many students didn’t sleep that night and still feel unsafe despite the neutralized threat. Colby needs to do more than just recognize that people have been traumatized and actually do something that will help students’ mental health and give time to process without the weight of academics. The administration needs to do more to prevent this, or something worse, from happening again and we need time for them to earn back our trust.
