I am a student who experienced sexual assault on the SLCC campus. My experience made it painfully clear that the college needs better safety measures, faster response procedures, and stronger communication. No student should ever feel unprotected or unheard. My story is not an isolated case, and that is why these changes are urgently needed.

Sexual assault and safety concerns continue to affect students at Salt Lake Community College. Many areas of campus lack adequate security camera coverage, and response procedures during urgent situations are often slow, unclear, or inconsistent.

We request that SLCC :

1. Add more cameras in parking lots, hallways, common areas, and other vulnerable or poorly monitored places.
2. Establish clear response time expectations for security and Title IX staff. Implement protocols that ensure victims receive immediate attention, safety, and support.
3. Mandatory annual training focused on recognizing, reporting, and responding to sexual misconduct. Ensure all campus employees understand their responsibilities, reporting procedures, and student rights.
4. Improve information-sharing processes so no report, concern, or safety warning is missed. Create clear channels between Campus Safety, Title IX staff, faculty, and administrators.
