Our family members and friends, like many others in Greystones, regularly use the local beaches. Unfortunately, we have come to realise that the current amenities do not meet the standards, in terms of safety, universal access and changing/washing/toilet facilities that would be expected for such a popular and heavily used year round bathing area. 

Sustainable Greystones, in collaboration with Greystones Town Team, is pursuing funding for a Feasibility Study to define the requirements to bring our 3 local beaches up to the standards that would be expected. As part of this we are welcoming inputs from all local sea swimmers, water users and stakeholders so that we end up with a set of solutions that meet our common needs.

As a community, we have a collective responsibility to ensure our beaches and swimming areas are safe, clean, and accessible to all who wish to enjoy them. However, owing to inadequate amenities, this isn't currently the case. The lack of proper facilities not only tarnishes the experience for locals but also impacts the tourist and visitor numbers which play a critical role in the local economy.

This petition is therefore a call to action for the existing local authorities and local stakeholders to acknowledge and support the community's need for improved amenities and to take meaningful supportive action. Let's turn Greystones into the coastal haven it deserves to be!
