The safety of our students and employees at Santa Monica College (SMC) is crucial. Our community has faced two serious incidents in the last eleven years, including one involving an employee with significant criminal convictions. We must take action to promote a safer campus environment.

It’s important to ensure that background checks are conducted thoroughly and that there are clear guidelines for hiring individuals with serious criminal histories. Additionally, enhancing security measures can further protect everyone on campus.
