Education plays a crucial role in shaping the future generations. In NSW, Australia, we believe that the current curriculum can be enhanced by incorporating Youth Crime Education into the Kindergarten to Year 10 Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum. This addition will help highlight the importance of legal education at an early age to reduce youth crime rates. As of 2019, NSW accounted for the second-highest percentage (26%) of youth offenders under community-based supervision in Australia (Australian Bureau of Statistics). It's time for change. By integrating Youth Crime Education, we can foster an atmosphere of understanding, responsibility, and informed choices, deterring young people from engaging in crime.
