Southern Cross Catholic College has always held high standards in creating an enriching and wholesome environment where students can grow intellectually and morally. However, there is an essential component which we believe is missing for the Year 10 students: the school camp.

A survey released by the Australian Institute of Family Studies emphasizes the positive impacts of school camps, stating that 94% of students demonstrated a significant increase in confidence, resilience, and social skills post attending a school camp (Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2016).

Camps encourage a sense of community, team-building, and mental health awareness within students, vital elements towards their holistic development. A balanced approach between academia and extracurricular activities such as camps, can significantly improve the overall learning experience.

We passionately believe that the integration of a Year 10 school camp at SCCC will not only enhance the students' high school memories but also contribute positively to their personal growth. We, therefore, urge SCCC consider initiating the Year 10 school camp—an endeavor that will directly influence our young students and shape their high school experience.
