Work Immersion is an essential part of Senior High School education because it allows students to apply classroom lessons in real-world settings. At Buting Senior High School, however, STEM students are not currently provided with Work Immersion opportunities and are limited only to capstone projects. While capstone projects help develop research and academic skills, they do not provide hands-on exposure to professional STEM environments. As a result, STEM learners miss the chance to experience how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are applied in actual workplaces, placing them at a disadvantage compared to other strands that receive immersion aligned with their fields.

This petition is directed to the school administration of Buting Senior High School, particularly the principal and Senior High School coordinators, who have the authority to implement changes in the curriculum. The goal of this petition is to request the implementation of Work Immersion programs specifically for STEM students, through partnerships with laboratories, hospitals, research institutions, engineering firms, technology companies, or government agencies. It also seeks to allow students to choose immersion placements based on their STEM interests, while recognizing Work Immersion as a complement to capstone projects rather than a replacement. All immersion opportunities are expected to be safe, supervised, and focused on meaningful learning.

Providing Work Immersion for STEM students at Buting Senior High School is important because it helps learners develop practical skills, understand professional work environments, and make informed decisions about their future courses and careers. Real-world exposure can increase students’ confidence, readiness for college, and competitiveness in STEM-related fields.
