The United States remains one of the few developed nations without a universal healthcare system. This lack of universal coverage has left millions without adequate healthcare, leading to preventable illnesses and deaths. Additionally, the cost of medical care and prescription medications in the U.S. is significantly higher than in other developed countries. According to a 2019 report from the House of Representatives Ways & Means Committee, Americans pay on average nearly four times more for prescription drugs than 11 other high-income countries (Source: House Ways & Means Committee Report). This financial burden often leads to individuals not being able to afford necessary treatments or medications. We call on lawmakers to implement a universal healthcare system that ensures all citizens have access to affordable medical care and prescription drugs.
