This petition is born out of a personal tragedy. My aunt, a victim of a horrific shooting accident, lost her eye and now faces the daunting prospect of reconstruction surgery. The harsh reality we are confronted with is that her insurance refuses to cover this necessary procedure. This leaves her not only physically impaired but also mentally struggling with the aftermath of such an incident.

This situation underscores the urgent need for Universal Health Care in the United States. Millions like my aunt are left at the mercy of insurance companies who often prioritize profit over patients' well-being (source: American Journal of Public Health). That's nearly one in ten Americans who could face financial ruin due to an unexpected health crisis.
