Implement Two Penalty-Free Paid Days Monthly for Women Suffering from Dysmenorrhea

The Issue

I am one of the many women who have been forced to endure severe period pain, also known as dysmenorrhea, while adhering to strict workplace attendance policies. This is a reality for countless women worldwide who are expected to perform at their best despite the debilitating pain they experience monthly.

Dysmenorrhea is not just a minor discomfort. It's a medical condition that affects a large number of women, and up to 20% of women so severely that it interferes with their daily activities (Source: American Family Physician). Yet, most workplaces do not recognize this condition and its impact on productivity and overall well-being.

We are advocating for the implementation of two penalty-free paid days off each month specifically allocated for those suffering from dysmenorrhea or severe period pain. This policy will not only acknowledge the physical toll menstruation can take on some women but also promote an inclusive and understanding work environment.

It's time we stop expecting women to 'push through' this pain and start acknowledging it as a legitimate reason for needing rest. Let's make workplaces more compassionate towards the health issues unique to half of their workforce.

Please sign this petition if you believe in creating more empathetic workplace policies that respect all aspects of employee health.
