As residents of Hanwell, New Brunswick, we have chosen to establish our family homes in this beautiful area. Our neighbourhood is filled with children and pets who we deeply care about. However, our sense of safety has been eroded due to the excessive speed at which the majority of drivers travel down Eaglewood Drive. Our children no longer feel safe playing outside and as parents, some of us are even considering moving to a different area because of this issue.

As a community, we have rallied together and tried waving arms to get cars to slow down, placed multiple phone calls to authorities, e-mailed the MLA for the area, purchased "slow down" cones, signs, driveway nets to keep our children safe, etc - to no avail.

Traffic calming measures have proven effective in reducing vehicle speeds and improving safety in many communities across Canada. According to Transport Canada, traffic calming measures such as speed bumps or roundabouts can reduce vehicle speeds by 10-20% (Transport Canada). This reduction could make a significant difference on Eaglewood Drive.

We are calling upon local authorities to implement traffic calming measures on Eaglewood Drive and throughout our neighbourhood. We believe that these changes will ensure the safety of all residents and restore peace within our community.Please sign this petition if you agree that action needs to be taken immediately for the safety of everyone living in or visiting Hanwell's Eaglewood Drive neighbourhood.

Suggestions of possible methods to slow down traffic are: 3 way stops at each intersection on Eaglewood Dr, removable speed bumps or temporary/removable Bollards as seen in picture. (have seen in action in the Shippagan region and is very effective)
