A recent, accident at the crossroads in Lower Heyford has  impacted the lives of people in our community. A speeding driver collided with a car, leaving it completely written off, and it is painfully clear that action must be taken to prevent further tragedies. This notorious crossroads poses a grave threat to everyone, not just drivers but children, older residents and dog walkers who have to cross this route daily.

For far too long, this dangerous spot has been acknowledged as dangerous by all who use it. However we are continually met with 'no money in the pot', with numerous accidents and continuous speeding putting lives at risk, this cannot be allowed to continue.  In surrounding villages, effective measures have already been implemented to ensure road safety. For example, double chicanes in nearby areas have proven successful in drastically reducing vehicle speeds.

There is no reason our crossroads should be treated any differently.

We propose the installation of double chicanes here, on the three busiest and fastest roads coming into the crossroads -Station Road and the B4030.

We cannot afford to wait for another incident. By implementing these traffic calming measures, we can create a safer environment for all road users. And ultimately save the police, ambulance service and individuals further cost.
