Implement term limits and accountability for U.S. elected officials

Implement term limits and accountability for U.S. elected officials
The Issue
Having spent decades leading and serving in the military, it is disheartening to witness our elected officials transform public service into a prolonged soap opera at the expense of American citizens. These leaders, who voluntarily took an oath to serve their constituents, have long abandoned their responsibility, replaced competence with complacency, and repeatedly displayed an inability to perform the most basic functions expected of them, such as managing taxpayer money and passing a balanced budget. We must take action to restore integrity and accountability to our government by instituting term limits, implementing a High Year Tenure policy, and enforcing budgetary responsibility.
Term limits are essential to prevent the career politicians' stronghold on power and allow fresh perspectives to guide our nation's future. By limiting the number of terms an individual can serve, we foster a dynamic and responsive government more attuned to the changing needs of its people.
In addition, a High Year Tenure should be introduced, ensuring that elected officials remain under the retirement age specified by the United States during their tenure in office. This policy promotes proactive leadership and prevents stagnation that may arise from overly long careers in politics.
Most importantly, we must insist that any elected official be deemed ineligible for re-election if the government fails to pass a balanced budget each fiscal year. Just as families across America manage their household finances, so too must our government be held to the same standard of financial responsibility.
The vital necessity for these reforms cannot be overstated. Elected positions were never intended as sinecures; the intention was to serve the people with dedication and accountability. Now is the time for change. It's time to demand term limits, enforce high year tenure policies, and ensure financial accountability from our elected officials. We must reclaim our governance and restore the original purpose of public service.
Please join me in petitioning Congress to implement these crucial reforms. Sign this petition if you believe it's time for our government to reflect our values and serve its citizens, not themselves.
