Implement Tax on Clergy to Alleviate Income Tax in Canada

Implement Tax on Clergy to Alleviate Income Tax in Canada
The Issue
My wife is a nurse, and despite her hard work and dedication to her profession, we have had to rely on food banks just to get by. Each year, the tax she pays could be enough to hire a full-time personal assistant. How about you? Do you think the Canadian Government is taking just the right amount of tax from you? Meanwhile, the Clergy in our country pay no tax at all. It's time for us to question why "god" needs all this money while ordinary Canadians are losing their homes and going hungry.
The current tax system is putting an undue burden on middle-class families like ours. The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives reports that the top 1% of earners in Canada pay less than half the effective tax rate of the bottom 10%. This disparity is even more pronounced when considering that religious institutions remain largely untaxed.
We propose a solution: Taxing the Churches and Clergy in Canada. This would not only provide a significant source of revenue but also create a fairer taxation system where everyone contributes their fair share.
An article published in the Globe and Mail on August 7th, 2021 and updated on October 25th, 2021 by David Mistead quote "All told, 2019 net assets – the sum of cash, investments, property and other holdings, after accounting for liabilities such as debts and loans – are valued at a minimum of $4.1-billion. (The number does not account for the assets of Catholic organizations such as monasteries.)"
It's time for our government to wake up! There is an untapped source of income that could help alleviate financial pressures caused by inflation and reduce income inequality across our nation.
Please sign this petition if you believe it's time for change - it's time for fairness in taxation where everyone plays their part!
