Implement Stronger State Laws to Curb Sanctioned Vexatious Litigants

The Issue

This petition is deeply personal to me and I’m sure many others. The unjust onslaught of lawsuits serves as a constant drain on our resources, time, and emotional well-being.

Vexatious litigants, especially those sanctioned by the court, are causing significant harm across our state. They inundate our judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, causing unnecessary delays for genuine cases, wasted taxpayer resources and a great deal of personal suffering for the defendants.

It has become abundantly clear that our current legislation is not adequate enough in preventing these sanctioned vexatious litigants from continuing this destructive behavior. Strict, well-defined laws can help provide rigorous checks and constraints on those who misuse the system, allowing our courts to function more effectively, and providing relief to unnecessary defendants.
Please affix your signature to this petition in hopes that the legislators of the Commonwealth of Virginia sign into law laws to ban, if not strongly limit, any person who has been sanctioned at least twice in any, if not multiple jurisdictions.

I urge our state legislators to enact stronger statewide legislation to stop court sanctioned, vexatious litigants from filing frivolous lawsuits against individuals and small businesses and to provide prompt and judicious action in favor of their victims. It's high time to uphold justice and protect individuals from such unwarranted legal actions. Please sign this petition to help bring about this much-needed change.
