Implement Strong Regulations on Uber's Treatment of Drivers

The Issue

As an Uber driver, I personally witness and experience the continuous mistreatment of those in my profession by the corporation. The company uses loopholes in the system to their advantage, creating conditions that lead to decreasing pay for drivers year after year, despite inflation and rising living costs. In some regions, Uber's commission exceeds the legal boundary of 25%, with deductions reaching more than 50% in certain cases. These actions undeniably take advantage of the drivers and dangerously depress their living conditions, which already hangs on a thread due to seemingly indifferent local councils.

Local authorities have unfortunately turned a blind eye to this urgent issue, often forcing drivers to take on unreasonable hours to make ends meet. The lack of strict and enforced regulations allow Uber's unchecked actions to continue and put undue pressure on thousands of drivers who depend on this income for their very survival.

The condition of drivers, who form the backbone of this multi-billion dollar company, should be a top priority. It is not only an issue of basic human rights and dignity, but also of corporate responsibility. This system undeniably needs to change, asking for fair and just treatment towards Uber drivers.

I urge you to consider the seriousness of these issues and join in our campaign. Every signature on this petition moves us one step closer to making a significant change, calling on Uber and local authorities to regulate these unjust practices, and to treat drivers fairly in regards to pay, hours, and working conditions. Sign this petition, stand with the Uber drivers and help transform a system which urgently needs to be rectified.
