I find myself personally impacted by the rising occurrences of violence against women in India, a cause that has touched my heart. In the country that I have been born and raised, we are facing a disastrous rise in rape cases. Our government has remained distressingly silent on this matter that continues to threaten our women's rights and safety.
One potential solution already exists, and it lies a few countries away - in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates boasts strict laws around sexual crimes that deter potential offenders. It's a compelling example that balanced rights with safety can be achieved and maintained. Unfortunately, we are far from such a scenario in our country. Considering the Crime in India Report 2019 released by the National Crime Records Bureau, about 88 rape cases are reported per day in our country. The absence of stern laws and proper implementation continues to breed a persistent and deep-rooted problem.
To turn this situation around, it is indispensable that we introduce legislation as strict as Dubai's against rape, in India. Strict laws can significantly lower crime rates and provide a safer environment for women. It would empower women to step out without fear, to live their lives to the fullest and contribute to the overall growth of our society. This improvement isn't just for my personal peace of mind, but for the safety and security of all women in India.
