Implement Stricter Regulations for Firework Sales and Encourage Dog-Friendly Fireworks
The Issue
As someone deeply involved in caring for dogs, I often bear firsthand witness to the distress caused by the unrestricted use of fireworks. The sudden, loud noises that often accompany celebrations terrify our canine companions, altering their behavior and increasing their anxiety levels. Even simple tasks, such as going outside to relieve themselves, become traumatic experiences.
Take my ESA dog, for instance. The fireworks' sounds have caused us both a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety. This personal experience has solidified my conviction that the current lax regulations around firework sales need a thorough review.
Our proposal is twofold: First, there needs to be a stricter regulation on the sale of fireworks. They should not be readily available for unchecked use throughout the year. Second, the use of fireworks should be limited to specific, well-communicated days to allow adequate preparation time for pet owners.
Additionally, we advocate for the promotion of "dog-friendly" fireworks. These emit less noise and are far less likely to cause animal distress—a solution that considers both celebratory traditions and the welfare of our pets.
We urge you to support this initiative. Our collective action can usher in change, balancing our rights to celebrate with the need to protect our pets from distress. Please stand with us and sign this petition.
