Implement Stricter Laws for Backyard Breeders to Control Pitbull Overpopulation

The Issue

We need your help to ensure the wellbeing of a breed that is near and dear to many, the pitbull. I share my life with my fur baby, a rescued pitbull who has been through a lot. When I first brought him home, he was merely a shadow of a dog; malnourished, bearing ugly scars of maltreatment, and suffering from mange. Thankfully, the life he leads today is as it should have been all along. Spoiled, loved, and traveling with his human, he is a testament to why we need stricter laws for backyard breeders.

Sadly, his story isn't unique. Constant and unregulated breeding of pitbulls by irresponsible breeders has led to overpopulation in shelters. As a result, many beautiful older pitties are left in shelters for extended periods, sometimes even meeting the cruel fate of euthanasia. This not only overlooks the tremendous love these dogs have to offer, it also contributes to an increasing population of these beautiful animals who are denied the loving home they deserve.

According to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs are euthanized annually in the U.S, many of them pitbulls. The needless suffering of these innocent creatures is an unfair burden on taxpayers as well who, according to a study by Clark County (Nevada), invest an average of $2 per resident per year to handle stray and unwanted pets.

Our goal is to change the narrative for pitbulls, and all dogs, by requesting stricter breeding laws for backyard breeders. By doing so, we will decrease the number of pitbulls in shelters, reduce the number of dogs euthanized each year, and help ensure happier lives for these noble creatures. We urge you to join us in this fight for them and sign our petition today. Let's bring about a change that will ensure a safer, more humane society for our beloved pitbulls.
