Implement Stricter Child Abuse Laws and Hold All Responsible Parties Accountable

The Issue

From personal experiences witnessing the failure of our current child abuse system, I am driven to spearhead this urgent call for change. Numerous times, children are victimized and slip through the cracks, their voices lost in the ether. These children, our children, our future, are continuously failed by the very systems and people designated to protect them. As a society, when we allow even a single child to be victimized, we fall short. The current child abuse laws are not enough and the responsibility distribution is flawed.

The proposal is to urge the House of Representatives to revise the existing child abuse laws making them more stringent and inclusive. The amendments should ensure that not only the direct culprits but also biological parents, legal guardians, or protective services, who had the responsibility and power to prevent the abuse, should be held accountable. If it can be proven in a court of law that they failed to exercise their agency to prevent abuse, they too must face legal consequences.

Moreover, the reform must also take into account Child Protective Services (CPS). It is alarming that some CPS workers, in charge of a file where abuse was noted, aren't held responsible for their negligence. Like everyone else who could have, but didn't act to prevent the abuse, they should also be legally charged.

This is not an individual's fight. It is collective responsibility to protect our children, our future. Let's take proactive actions to mend the cracks in our system and create a strong fortress of protection around our children.

We need to move right now. Our children cannot afford to wait. We request the House of Representatives to muster the political will to implement these changes promptly. Sign this petition today to stand up for our children and our future.
