The Issue

I am a mother of two children who adore the art of performance and entertainment. I strongly believe that there is no requirement for them, or anyone else, to be exposed to explicit sexual content often highlighted in movies and TV shows. There used to be a time when our society held a deep respect for intimacy, and sex being its most intimate expression, its casual portrayal as mere entertainment is worrisome.

Any child with a remote control has easy access to these explicit scenes, which not only distorts their perception of healthy relationships but also grooms people to believing it's normal to watch sex. Indeed, it appears that recent movies and TV shows only contain pornographic material also known as sex scenes. It's necessary to highlight that actors and actresses do not have to resort to nudity to exhibit their talent. Children do not to see or be part of filming any sex scene. It is not normal and creeps people out. Jodie Foster as the 12 year prostitute in Taxi Driver.....not appropriate.

The presence of explicit sex scenes does not substantiate or embellish the storyline; rather, it distracts from its essence. We used to eagerly await the first kiss between two characters, it was the highlight of the romance and it was enough.

According to a research report by the Parents Television Council, out of nearly 800 TV shows they analyzed, a staggering 70% contained sexual content (Source: Parents Television Council). This sheds light on the extent of our children’s exposure to such content.

Therefore, I request strict regulatory measures to remove explicit sexual scenes from movies and TV shows. This would be a significant step towards preserving the innocence of our children and reinforcing the true value of intimacy. Please, sign this petition to support our collective voice.
