I am writing this petition out of a personal experience that happened in my school, in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines. A classmate was caught watching pornography during class hours. This incident not only disrupted the learning environment but also raised concerns about the influence of explicit content on young minds.

According to a study by the National Institute for Media and the Family, exposure to pornography can lead to various negative outcomes among children including increased rates of sexual aggression and risky sexual behavior (National Institute for Media and the Family). In addition, it can negatively affect their psychological development and social relationships.

We believe that our schools should be safe havens for learning where students are protected from harmful influences such as pornography. Therefore, we urge the local education authorities to implement stricter measures against accessing explicit content within school premises. This could include installing effective internet filters on all school computers and conducting regular digital literacy sessions emphasizing on responsible internet use.
