Implement Strict Laws On Fast Fashion Companies to Encourage Sustainability

Implement Strict Laws On Fast Fashion Companies to Encourage Sustainability
The Issue
Our school has recently embarked on a vital venture, the 'Let's Fix Fashion' programme. We've taken this step in the pursuit of raising vital awareness on the devastating effect that fast fashion companies are having on both people's lives and our planet. This journey is intensely personal to us as we strive to educate and inspire change in our community and beyond.
The fashion industry is currently the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply and is responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions- more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. Fast fashion garments, which make up a substantial portion of this industry, are often made in exploitative conditions, causing immeasurable suffering. Furthermore, they contribute to the 13 million tonnes of textile waste dumped into landfills each year.
We propose laws and regulations must be tightened around the production of fast fashion, forcing corporations to take responsibility for their impact. This will not only address environmental damage but also poor labor practices. In doing so, we move towards a future where fashion does not cost the Earth or human dignity. We're urging you to support us in pushing for the implementation of these laws, which will ultimately lead to stricter regulations on such companies.
By signing our petition, you're joining us in our pledge to stop fast fashion. You are stopping the cycle of exploitation, you are speaking up for our planet, and you are saying 'yes' to sustainable shopping. Please sign the petition, take action now, and join our school's movement to fix fashion.
