My nephew, like many children across the country, has been a victim of bullying. He was forced to kiss dirty shoes and was physically assaulted while others cheered on this cruel act. This is not an isolated incident but a reflection of the pervasive issue of bullying in our schools that needs immediate attention.

Bullying affects approximately 20% of students between 12-18 years old (National Center for Education Statistics). It's not just physical harm; it also causes severe emotional trauma that can have long-lasting effects on a child's mental health. Bullying victims are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and even contemplate suicide (CDC).

We need our schools to implement strict anti-bullying policies that will protect every student from such traumatic experiences. We demand comprehensive training for staff to recognize and address bullying effectively, as well as educational programs for students about the harmful impacts of bullying.
