I write this petition with a heavy heart, remembering a dear friend who was tragically killed in an accident due to excessive speed in a 35 mph zone. This fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Bronson Hill Road and Stone Hill Road in Lakeville, NY. The absence of stop signs at this intersection has resulted in dangerous conditions that have already claimed lives.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), intersections without proper traffic control devices contribute to about 40% of all crashes. In our small community, even one life lost is too many. We cannot stand by as more people are put at risk.
