According to the 2013 National Demographic and Health Survey, one in every ten young Filipino women aged 15 to 19 has begun childbearing: 8% are already mothers, and another 2% are pregnant with their first child. Among young adult women aged 20 to 24, 43% are already mothers, and 4% are expecting their first child.

Similarly, 36 percent of young adult women in the lowest wealth quintile had their first intimate sexual act before the age of 18, compared to only 10 percent of those in the highest wealth quintile. The proportion varies by region, ranging from 11% in the Cordillera Administrative Region to 27% in Davao. The proportion of young adult women reporting their first intimate sexual act before the age of 18 is 22 percent in rural areas and 17 percent in urban areas.
