Implement sex education and family planning in the Philippines
Implement sex education and family planning in the Philippines
The Issue
The world’s population is expected to increase by nearly 2 billion people in the next 30 years, from the current 8 billion to 9.7 billion in 2050 and could peak at nearly 10.4 billion in the mid-2080s. How could this affect us? A problem known as overpopulation occurs when there are more people than the world can support. Two issues that are related to the overpopulation issue are high birthrates and child mortality in developing countries. As the population increases, so will the need for resources such as food, water, housing, electricity, healthcare, transportation, and other things. Additionally, excessive consumption worsens the ecosystem and raises the possibility of severe disasters like pandemics. We demand the implementation of sex education and family planning by our government in hopes that it would resolve overpopulation in our country.
Human overpopulation is among the most pressing environmental issues, silently aggravating the forces behind global warming and other environmental problems. In the past five years, there has been a surge in the population of the Philippines. Lack of sex education among the populace and social meddling is one of the causes of overpopulation in the Philippines. People from poor regions believe in the old ways including the logic that more offspring means more social security. Sex education is not taught in the educational system of the country. Without it, teenagers have no idea about the effects of doing sex. Although our country has ample resources to support the growing population, these resources are not being properly cared for. For example, lands where we can grow rice are not used for farming if they are not privately owned, and agricultural land is decreasing over time. As our debts rise, the unfortunate population will be forced to pay for the government's inability to set better priorities.
Unemployment is caused by a lack of jobs, but low wages are a result of a massive labor excess. An increase in the average cost of living is one effect of overpopulation. In overpopulated places, living costs are often higher because there aren't enough resources to meet everyone's needs, overpopulation raises the expense of life overall. Prices for goods and services rise over time, forcing households to reduce spending on things like food, housing, transportation, taxes, and healthcare. Low-income families have no choice but to pursue multiple jobs to make ends meet despite their financial insecurity. In overpopulated places, living costs are often higher because there aren't enough resources to suit everyone's needs.
One major effect of overpopulation is the increasing demand for food, water, housing, energy, healthcare, and transportation. An increase in population will inevitably create pressures leading to more deforestation, increased material extraction, decreased biodiversity, and spikes in pollution and emissions, which will exacerbate climate change, industrial agriculture, and other manufacturing processes. In addition, to accommodate growing populations, forests and other habitats are disturbed or destroyed to build urban areas, including homes, businesses, and roads. Moreover, the agriculture sector would also be impacted by the rise in food demand. Farmers throughout the world will need to improve their crop production. As you can see, overpopulation has a massive impact. When this issue strikes one of these factors, it can lead to a domino effect that can cause a lot of damage to our economy.
In conclusion, overpopulation is one of the most important concerns facing humanity today. High birth rates, child mortality in developing countries, poverty and social media influence contribute to overpopulation. It's a grave issue as it affects our resources by making them scarce, and degrades the ecosystem by encouraging excessive consumption from a large number of people. Additionally, an increase in population will inevitably create pressures leading to more deforestation, increased material extraction, and spikes in pollution and emissions. Thus, we would like to ask for your help to sign this petition to call for action to our government to firmly implement and promote family planning through the availability of birth control and other contraceptives, effectively educating people, especially teenagers, on sex education. Overpopulation is a serious issue that is not talked about enough. Signing this petition is a step towards progress. If we won’t take action now, when?
