Every child deserves the right to safety when traveling to and from school. Unfortunately, our current situation does not reflect this. Our neighbourhood's school buses currently pick up and drop off children on the street, instead of inside our community. This poses significant safety risks for our children. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were an estimated 264 school-age children killed in school transportation-related crashes between 2008 and 2017. This is an alarming statistic that reflects the importance of safe transportation for our children. Let us urge our local school board and transportation authorities to reconsider the placement of our bus stops to provide a safer environment for our children. Every signature counts.
