Edenfield Road in Norden Village, Rochdale has become a hotspot for speeding and reckless driving, particularly in the stretch from Morrison's garage where cars frequently accelerate to dangerous speeds. This poses a significant risk to the community, especially to families and pedestrians who navigate this area daily.

Last night (25th june) a speeding car veered off Edenfield Road and crashed into the home of a young family. Had they still been awake and downstairs this likely would have been fatal. This dangerous trend needs to be addressed urgently to prevent possible fatalities or serious injuries. The residents of Norden have repeatedly requested the installation of speed bumps and/or speed cameras to deter reckless driving, yet these calls have gone unheeded. 

The safety of the community cannot be compromised any longer. We urge Rochdale Council and our local MP to take immediate action by implementing effective road safety measures on Edenfield Road. Installing speed bumps and cameras will serve as a deterrent to speeding, ensuring the security and peace of mind for all residents.

Ignoring this issue any longer risks another accident, which could have devastating consequences. We call on the authorities to prioritise the safety of residents and act now before another avoidable incident occurs.
