My family and I are in the process of building our dream home in Brighton, Oregon. However, our excitement has been marred by a series of burglaries that have plagued our neighbors. The dead-end public road leading to our community has become a hotspot for illegal camping and associated crime.

Since we took the initiative to install a temporary gate, there have been zero incidents reported. This simple solution has had an immediate effect on improving safety and security within our neighborhood.

According to data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, property crimes in rural areas like ours can be significantly reduced by limiting access points for potential criminals (FBI UCR 2019). By gating this dead-end road temporarily we can deter criminal activities while ensuring peace of mind for residents. Upon completion of construction we will place the gate on our own property.
