Implement Performance-Based Pay for MPs and Commons; A Cap on Wealth for Eligibility

The Issue

We once experienced a scenario where the Prime Minister of our country eclipsed the King in wealth, an unusual situation that has raised dissension and concern among citizens. Questions were asked- how could a public servant, paid by taxpayers, amass wealth surpassing that of the monarchy? This situation became even more distressing when, under such leadership, benefits for the poor and disabled were cut.

For too long, politicians have had the safety net of a fixed salary, independent of their effectiveness or the impact of their policies on the people they represent. This system has led to complacency and a lack of accountability. In order to hold our public servants to a higher standard, we propose putting Members of Parliament (MPs) and Commons on performance-related pay.

In addition, it's high time we enforce a cap on the wealth of those wishing to serve. When politicians tap into public service, the best interest of the populace should be their primary drive. Significant personal wealth can create conflicts of interest, distancing these individuals from the trials and tribulations of the majority. Thus we propose: if you are too rich, you cannot serve. Let's ensure those who make decisions for us can understand and empathize with the realities we face.

Now is the time to enforce these changes for a more representative and effective government. We ask for your support as we demand fairness, transparency, and accountability in our political system. Please sign this petition and help us drive this vital reform.
