Our legal system is based on the principles of equity and justice, and as such, everyone should be treated fairly and not be trapped based on unreliable or inaccurate information. It has recently come to our attention that some individuals, specifically females, have falsely declared their age to get men arrested unfairly. While the onus is primarily on adults to ensure they are not engaging in inappropriate behavior with underage individuals, this practice of deliberate deception undermines the justice system's credibility.

According to a study done by the Innocence Project, one of the primary causes of wrongful convictions is false statements. Though it is essential to underpin age-related legislation that protects minors from exploitation, it is also vital to ensure that such laws are not misused. Misrepresentation of age not only causes unjust punishments but also destroys the reputation and life of the falsely accused.

We are not suggesting leniency towards those who commit crimes with minors knowingly. Penalties for such offences should remain severe. However, we demand the implementation of appropriate penalties for those who knowingly lie about their age to frame individuals. This measure would deter individuals from misusing our laws and would contribute to a fairer justice system.
