Implement No School on Fridays for a Better School-Life Balance

Implement No School on Fridays for a Better School-Life Balance
The Issue
I mandate this petition from a personal urgency: I have a life outside of school. Like many students around the world, the demanding and rigorous school schedule has encroached on our personal lives, leaving little time for hobbies, family engagements, or relaxation. To establish a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, I propose the implementation of a 4-day school week by foregoing school on Fridays.
Research has shown the success of this model in several American states. For example, Garfield School District Re-2 in Colorado moved to a four-day school week in 2012 and witnessed improved attendance and notable cost savings (Edweek, 2020). This change doesn't compromise educational outcomes either – in fact, a study conducted by the Education Commission of the States demonstrated no significant difference in student performances between four- and five-day school weeks (ECS, 2016).
The current five-day school week is an arduous model for students. It's time we recognized the need for a healthier, more balanced approach to education that respects students' need for personal time and space. The implementation of a four-day school week would not only provide an extended opportunity for students to rest and engage in extracurricular activities but also foster a better learning environment come school days.
Please stand with me and sign this petition to fight for a no-school Friday leading to healthier, happier students.
