Implement National Paid Leave for African Americans on Juneteenth

Implement National Paid Leave for African Americans on Juneteenth
The Issue
I write this petition with a heavy heart and countless memories of a continuous struggle for stability. Despite being so young, I bear the immense weight of years without respite. The thought alone is dreadful and it often gets me emotional.
In light of this, and in recognition of the vast trials and tribulations faced by African Americans nationwide, this petition respectfully calls for the implementation of paid leave on June 19 – Juneteenth. Every year, this day stands as a commemoration of the emancipation of slaves in the United States, a significant instance in our shared history that should be honored to its full extent.
This petition is not just about time off work, it’s about acknowledging and honoring the milestones in our shared history. If Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Presidents’ Day and Columbus Day are recognized with time off from work and paid leave in many instances, Juneteenth should also be similarly acknowledged. Observing this day officially and offering paid leaves to African Americans would be a significant step towards equal recognition of historical events that shaped this nation.
Join us in pushing for this vital recognition. Let's bring about a change where Juneteenth is not a normal work day, but a payed day off for African Americans to celebrate their history, resilience, and progress. Please, sign this petition and help secure nationwide paid leave for African Americans on Juneteenth.
