Implement More "Pedestrian Scramble" Crosswalks In Florida
The Issue
According to the Governor’s Highway Safety Association, Florida had the second highest number of pedestrian deaths per capita.
The “Pedestrian Scramble” crosswalk is an intersection where all cars are stopped, and the pedestrians can safely cross in all directions (even diagonally). This can be seen in cities like Denver, Kansas City, Washington DC, Nashville, etc.
This has been proven to work in many other cities. Pedestrians can safely cross without the risk of getting hit because all cars are stopped. Pedestrians can also cross diagonally so that they don't have to wait for two crosswalk lights.
