Implement Military Base Delivery Option for DoorDash Customers and Dashers

The Issue

I am a DoorDash driver who, like many others, has faced difficulties with my acceptance and completion rates due to orders requiring delivery on military bases. In my area alone, there are three separate bases which often come up in the order pool. Despite my best efforts to avoid accepting these orders by zooming into the drop-off location, it's not always possible to identify them in time. This can sometimes result in an inadvertent acceptance of an order that I cannot complete due to lack of access to the base, negatively affecting my completion rate as I need to unassign it.  DoorDash does give the option to reach out to the customer and ask them to meet you, but this rarely happens (which ends up with the order being cancelled) and monopolizes a large chunk of time that Dashers could be out taking different orders.

This issue is not unique to me, but affects a significant number of dashers in military areas who are civilians. Posts about it are regularly found on social networks such as Reddit and I've spoken to many dashers in my local area who have this same frustration.  It's important for DoorDash as a company that values its drivers' experience as much as its customers', and to address this issue promptly.

We propose the following solution: First, give customers the option during ordering process to indicate they are on a military base.  This could easily be done with a checkbox able to be chosen when checking out. Second, allow dashers the option within their settings or at the point of order acceptance to decline such orders without penalty or choose to not take them at all.

These changes would improve efficiency for all parties involved - customers on bases would get their deliveries faster from dashers who have access rights; dashers without such rights wouldn't see their performance metrics unfairly affected; and DoorDash itself could better manage its resources.

We urge the team at DoorDash to consider these suggestions seriously and implement changes that will benefit everyone involved. Please sign this petition if you agree.
