Students at Thomas Grover Middle School are currently expected to sit through 90-minute blocks of core classes without a break. This is not conducive to optimal learning or mental well-being. Research shows that short breaks during long periods of focused work or study can improve performance and reduce stress (Source: American Psychological Association). We propose a policy change allowing students to have a 20-minute outdoor break in the middle of these 90-minute blocks. This will promote better learning, increase student engagement, and contribute positively to their overall health and well-being.
