Like many others across the nation, I rely on my phone for my livelihood. In my line of work, I cannot ignore any calls. However, we are bombarded daily by numerous scam and spam calls, draining us mentally and negatively impacting our productivity.

We know that the technology exists to eradicate, or at the very least, drastically reduce this issue--cases such as TikTok's cessation in the United States are clear indicators of this. Nonetheless, we continue to receive these disruptive calls—often originating both within and outside of our nation's borders.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, in 2019, there were 3.7 million scam and robocall complaints reported—an alarming figure that outlines the extent of this nuisance. The problem has been acknowledged, yet persists.

We, therefore, call upon the US government to take immediate action to halt these scam and spam calls. Just as disruptive services have been terminated before, a similar approach should apply to this issue which touches upon the peace of mind and productivity of the American people daily.
