We are a resident of the Philippines, a country that is increasingly affected by climate change. Our heat index, which measures how hot it feels when relative humidity is combined with real air temperature, has progressively increased in recent years. This growth poses major health concerns to our population and compromises our way of life.

According to PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), heat index values have reached unsafe levels, occasionally topping 41 degrees Celsius. These extreme temperatures can cause heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heat stroke if necessary precautions are not taken.

Our government must move quickly to put measures in place to assist us adapt and limit the effects of extreme weather. This could involve expanding green spaces in cities to lower ambient temperatures or investing in renewable energy sources that do not contribute to global warming.
